Family, Home, and Community

Overview

Most people like to think that they are the sole providers for their family and valued members of their neighborhood. But the government also provides support in many, sometimes unseen, ways. The U.S. government (and through extension and design state, county and local governments as well) funds and oversees hundreds of programs and agencies that provide different levels of support to American communities and families.

The government and its appointed partners offer help through many means: information, education, services, opportunity and development programs, and regulation enforcement.

Services and programs offered in order to build happier and healthier families and neighborhoods range from help for the very young to the very oldest citizens. Housing, elder and child care, the keeping of vital records, and the viability of a broad spectrum of non-profit organizations’ success and continuance are part of how the U.S. government assists the American family.

Providing services and programs that will add to the well-being of the people of the United States is a good investment in the country’s future. While you may never need help on a day-to-day basis, it gives a certain sense of security that should you ever need the programs and service offered to families, those services will be available.
