Australia's unemployment rate declined in August to a seasonally adjusted 5.1 percent, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday. Most economists had forecast a decrease of 0.1 percent to 5.2 percent.

SYDNEY (MarketWatch) -- Australia's unemployment rate decreased 0.2 percentage points to 5.1% in August, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported Thursday. The number of people employed in the country rose 30,900 to 11,272 million on a seasonally adjusted basis, according to the data.
